Sports Bio for Jon Willis

  • Born and educated in Cornwall, England. Jon was a high school and college cricket, rugby and golf stand-out. Representing Cornwall at both rugby and golf.
  • A surfer from an early age Jon spent 2 years in Australia surfing and playing rugby for Manley Rugby Club. As a member of Manley Surf Life Saving Club started to race in triathlons.
  • Moved to St. Petersburg Florida continued racing as a triathlete and taught scuba diving. Personal Trainer certified by A.C.E. Certified as a scuba instructor by N.A.S.D.S., S.S.I. and N.A.U.I. Scuba  and fitness columnist for the St. Petersburg Times. Numerous T.V. and radio appearances in the Tampa Bay area.
  • Aging knees necessitated a move from triathlon to Adventure Racing and marathon kayaking. Division winner in the inaugural 300 mile Everglades Challenge. A kayak race organized by The Water Tribe, from Tampa Bay to Key Largo.
  • Owner of DAC Fitness in Destin. Turned 50 in 2009 and now have 2 children under the age of 5. The biggest physical challenge I have ever had!!
